In his famous and undeniably
inspiring 2005 Stanford commencement
speech, Steve Jobs said,
"I didn't see it then, but it turned out that getting fired from Apple was
the best thing that could have ever happened to me."
Why? Because after an event that
could have left him forever depressed, he instead went on to found NeXT and
Pixar, met the love of his life, and then returned to Apple where he led one of
the most amazing turnarounds in the history of corporate America.
In his speech, Jobs attributes
all these accomplishments to his "very public failure" at Apple:
"I'm pretty sure none of
this would have happened if I hadn't been fired from Apple. It was awful
tasting medicine, but I guess the patient needed it. Sometimes life hits you in
the head with a brick. Don't lose faith."
Such it is with a Bad Boss.
Right now, it feels terrible, like you’ll never get out from under this
abusive, horrendous Boss.
But like Jobs, don’t lose faith.
Never stop seeking the opportunities, resources, co-workers and mentors who can
help you onwards and upwards.
