Positive thinking isn’t head-in-the-sand. Positive thinking
is looking at situations in the best possible light.
Something you have to do a lot around a Bad Boss, because
otherwise you’re setting yourself up for a host of stress-related ailments.
According to the Mayo Clinic, health
benefits of positive thinking may include:
- Increased life span
- Lower rates of depression
- Lower levels of distress
- Greater resistance to the common cold
- Better psychological and physical well-being
- Reduced risk of death from cardiovascular disease
- Better coping skills during hardships and times of stress
How do you ‘positive-think’ with a Bad Boss?
Well, for one, you don’t only have to focus on your Bad Boss. Focus instead on
what you enjoy about your job itself, or your co-workers, or even what getting
a paycheck does for you.
Anything you can pay attention to other than
the horribleness of your Bad Boss as you go through your work day will be good
for you. Of course, that’s assuming you’re deliberately pointing your brain in
the direction of something positive.
Shifting your focus to how much you hate a
certain co-worker isn’t going to help one bit!
